We are excited to offer a wide range of free fitness and sports classes, health and wellbeing workshops, and live sports events to the Southside Glasgow community. Our mission is to tackle health inequalities, reduce social isolation, and remove financial barriers to exercise classes, especially in the more deprived areas.
We offer 35 free health and fitness classes throughout the school summer holidays, including yoga, self-defense, and CrossFit. In addition, we offer accessible live sports events and workshops around events like Wimbledon and international cycling championships.
Our Glasgow Games program has four wellbeing pillars to promote a healthy heart. Pillar 1 is nutrition, with seminars and workshops held to ensure sustainable and economically accessible ways for people to fuel their bodies correctly. Pillar 2 is stress management, with martial arts, yoga, and mobility classes to encourage deep breathing, meditation, and mindfulness. Pillar 3 is fitness, with strength, resistance, and cardio training provided from Muay Thai to CrossFit. Finally, Pillar 4 is social support, enhancing personal relationships with friends and family and increasing mental fortitude.
The Glasgow Games take place at the iconic Queen’s Park Arena, located in the Southside Glasgow area, which includes four Community Councils: Langside, Shawlands and Strathbungo, Mount Florida, and Govanhill and Crosshill. The venue offers hour-long slots for fitness and wellbeing classes, with foam mats available for everyone and folding chairs for those with mobility problems. Our aim is to bring people together in a welcoming and inclusive environment, so join us and start your journey to a healthy lifestyle today!
